Big Bass Fishin

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Big Bass Fishin is the kind of game I didn't expect to sink an evening into, and then it was midnight. The core loop is simple — pick a spot, cast your line, wait for a bite, and reel it in — but the timing on the reel-in is where the game earns its charm. Pull too hard and the line snaps, too soft and the fish slips away. There's a nice tension to it.

Controls are all touch-based and forgiving. You flick to cast, then tap and hold to fight the fish, watching a tension meter that turns red when you're pushing your luck. Over time you unlock different rods, lures and locations, and each spot has its own species that respond to different bait. Chasing a specific big catch became a genuine little goal for me.

Visually it's calm and clean, with water that actually looks like water and pleasant ambient sound. It never rushes you, which is rare on mobile. If you want something to relax with in short bursts, this one delivers, though the deeper tackle management will keep the completionists busy longer.
